1. Vantage In The News - Vantage principals Tannus Quatre and Kyle Fleischmann were featured in the cover story of the June 2008 issue of PT Magazine for their perspectives on the topic of "healthcare consumerism."
Healthcare consumerism is a relatively new trend in healthcare in which practices are acknowledging that patients truly have a choice of provider in today's healthcare marketplace, and should be increasingly be treated as "consumers" rather than as passive recipients of a their healthcare services.
Recognized as consumers, patients are being given additional options as pertains to their healthcare and are increasingly receiving care in environments that more resemble health spas than traditional healthcare centers.
This is a significant move toward putting the patient at the center of their healthcare universe, a trend that is improving the healthcare experience for many patients throughout the U.S.

In this article by Vantage principal, Tannus Quatre, published in the April 2008 issue of Impact, the core benefits of time savings, error reduction, and speed of communication are discussed as pertains to the small to medium-sized healthcare practice.

4. Online Doctor Ratings Pose Threats to Physicians - We've all heard of MySpace, Facebook, and a number of other "social networking" websites available online that provide the internet users with the ability to communicate and share information. Complete "online communities" have been built around this type of online platform, allowing for open communication between internet users in a way that is relatively anonymous and protected.
This technology has made its way to the consumer market through websites such as Epinions.com and Yahoo! Local, providing consumers a place to "hang out" and share stories about some of their most favorite (and least favorite) merchants and retailers.
Recently these communities have entered the healthcare arena through websites such as DrScore.com and RateMDs.com. This trend toward the largely unregulated and anonymous rating of healthcare providers online is cause for concern for providers who's reputation now lies in the mouse-holding hands of any patient with access to the web.
This post on the Vantage Clinical Solutions blog, The Healthcare Entrepreneur, comments on this social networking trend in healthcare.
