Decision Making by the Numbers
Healthcare providers in program development, managerial, and entrepreneurial roles make myriad decisions that significantly impact their teams, businesses, and livelihoods. The ability to quantify the decision making process through financial analysis is a skill critical to the success of providers in these decision-making roles.
In this presentation, I discuss ways in which to reduce the risk associated with important business decisions through the creation of detailed financial projections, as well as through the use of an analytical tool known as the cost-benefit analysis (CBA). The purpose of this presentation is to introduce and simplify these tools, making them a welcome and useful decision-making framework for healthcare providers and administrators in program development, managerial, and entrepreneurial roles.
Participants will be provided with instruction and access to electronic financial projection and CBA tools that can be used immediately upon completion of the session.
ObjectivesUpon completion of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the role of quantitative analysis as an important part of business decision making for the healthcare provider
- Understand how to create a set of financial projections for the development of new programs, services, or ventures
- Understand how to perform a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) for the development of new programs, services, or ventures
